Cacao Nibs

Our raw Cacao Nibs are available Organic or Non-GMO varieties. Most of our Nibs are made from the finest and rarest variety of Cacao: the Criollo. Grown mainly in Central and South America, it is well know for its mild and nutty character as well as its rich content of antioxidants, fibers and minerals. Cacao Nibs are a healthy addition to smoothies and can replace sweet Chocolate chips in Vegan baking recipes.

  • Cacao Nibs

    At NSI, we use a rigorous 6-steps process to obtain the best Cacao Nibs.

    The first step is fermenting the Cacao beans using sweatboxes, once they've been harvested. During the second step, the pulp matures into a liquid and slips off of the beans. For the third step, the beans then begins to develop their flavors, while being exposed to heat and air. During the fourth step, the beans are sun-dried to preserve nutrients and retain flavor. Fifth step includes winnowing the beans to obtain the Cacao Nibs. Once the nibs are separated they are roasted during the sixth step, further concentrating the flavor and aroma.

    The final result is great tasting Cacao Nibs that can be used in trail mixes, drinks or as an ingredient to many foods.

    Raw Cocoa is a rich source of antioxidants. The product also contains procyanidin, flavonoids, coumarin, phenethylamine and theobromine. Many studies link consumption of cocoa to good cardiovascular health by reducing blood pressure thereby increasing blood flow to organs and the brain.

  • Banana oat Coffee Muffins with cacao nibs

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups Flour
    • ½ cup Quick Oats
    • 1 tsp Baking Soda
    • 1 tsp Baking Powder
    • ½ tsp Salt
    • ¾ Butter Milk
    • ½ cup Coffee (room temperature)
    • ¾ Canola Oil
    • 1 Egg
    • 2 tsp Vanillla
    • ½ cup Brown Sugar
    • 2 Bananas
    • ½ cup Cacao Nib

    Preparation

    1. Combine flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, into a large bowl. Mix contents until uniform.
    2. In a separate bowl combine buttermilk, coffee, oil, vanilla, sugar, banana, and eggs. Once wet ingredients are mixed, pour into the center of dry ingredients. Mix until uniform consistency.
    3. Pour cacao nibs and mix thoroughly.
    4. Pour sugar into each muffin tin. This will form a crust on the bottom and aide in removal of finished product.
    5. Evenly scoop mixture into tins.
    6. Bake for 16-20 minutes.
